Costa Rica Struck by 5.9 Quake; No Injuries

WASHINGTON — An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale shook Costa Rica early Sunday, but no injuries or damages were reported, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The agency said the quake occurred at about 1:15 a.m. PDT and was centered about 120 miles northwest of San Jose.
An agency spokesman said there were no immediate reports of damage or injury but added that the quake was within the range of past destructive earthquakes in Costa Rica.
