A pickup truck carrying 10 illegal aliens overturned on California 78 in Vista west of Sunset Drive, killing two men and injuring six others Sunday night, California Highway Patrol Officer Jerry Bohrer said.

Officers are still looking for the driver, who fled the scene on foot, Bohrer said.

Samuel Vallez, 48, of Mexico died at the scene.

Jose Clemente Lopez, 25, died at 6 p.m. Monday at Palomar Hospital, a hospital spokesman said. He had massive head injuries.

Miguel Moreno, 27, and Miguel Lopez, 24, suffered moderate injuries and were taken to Tri-City Medical Center, along with two others whose identities were not known and who suffered from minor injuries. Four passengers were not injured.

The truck was westbound on California 78 when the driver lost control and veered toward the center divider. The driver then overcorrected and the truck flipped over, Bohrer said.
