Multiservice Center for Central American Refugees to Be Dedicated on Wednesday

The nation’s first multiservice center for Central American refugees will open with dedication ceremonies Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2675 W. Olympic Blvd.
Named Edificio Romero after the slain Salvadoran Archbishop Oscar Romero, it is the first fully bilingual multiservice center for Latinos outside of East Los Angeles and predominantly will serve those in the MacArthur Park/Pico Union area. It is a project of three non-profit agencies, Community Counseling Service, El Rescate and Clinica Oscar A. Romero.
Services, free to the indigent community in Spanish and English, will include medical and dental care, psychological counseling and psychiatric evaluation, food, shelter and other legal social services, legal representation, community education, outreach and advocacy.
The dedication ceremony will include remarks by County Supervisors Kenneth Hahn and Edmund Edelman, William Robertson, County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, Councilman Robert Farrell and Victor Martinez, Santana Chirino Amaya Central American Refugee Committee.
Tours will be given and lunch served, compliments of the Original Pantry Cafe.
