A warehouse employee was in critical condition Friday with back and facial injuries after a forklift tumbled on him.
Joe Lopez, 22, was injured when the forklift he was driving tumbled off a ramp at the Kirkhill Rubber Co. warehouse, according to company spokesman Larry Gadaire.
The cage portion of the forklift struck Lopez, he said. The lift was not carrying cargo at the time.
Lopez, a Brea resident, remained in stable but critical condition at UCI Medical Center. He suffered multiple facial fractures and a cervical fracture of the second vertebra, the hospital reported.
Lopez was a relatively new employee but was experienced with forklift operation, Gadaire said. The company is investigating the accident, he said.
