FALL HIGHLIGHTS : Valley Gains Share of First in Water Polo

Josh Foster scored five goals and David Scott added four to lead Valley College to a 17-15 victory over Rio Hondo in a Southern California Conference water polo match Friday.
The Monarchs held a comfortable 15-10 lead at the end of the third period, then withstood a furious Rio Hondo rally in the final period to win.
The victory lifted Valley (7-7, 2-1 in conference) into a first-place tie with Rio Hondo (2-1).
Rick Harway and Kurt McCullun each scored three goals for Valley.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Campbell Hall d. Faith Baptist, 17-15, 15-9, 15-7--Led by sophomore Crissy Mills’ eight kills and four service aces, Campbell Hall won its sixth straight Delphic League match.
Grace Community d. Highland Hall, 15-4, 15-4, 15-5--Senior Carie Vanderlinden had seven kills to lead Grace Community in a Westside League match.
Senior Casie Vanderlinden had 11 aces and Jennifer Kossuth had five kills for Grace Community.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Pierce d. Merced, 15-7, 16-14--Pierce advanced to the championship bracket of the College of the Sequoias tournament after posting its third win in four matches in round-robin play.
Pierce (4-4) also defeated San Jose (15-11, 15-11) and Monterey (15-13, 15-8). Sequoias was the only team to defeat Pierce (15-11, 15-13).
