Shirley MacLaine and the New Age

You are to be commended for a balanced article on Shirley MacLaine and the New Age (“Shirley MacLaine’s Mysticism for the Masses,” by Nina Easton, Sept. 6). However, I should like to correct the impression given by the way I was mentioned in the article. Rather than being frustrated, as portrayed, I am delighted at the increase in channeling and the awareness thereof. The more channels the better. Each channeler will draw to himself or herself the listeners who need a particular presentation, be it wildly theatrical or quietly cerebral. The words can and need to be spoken in different ways for different people.
