Knows the Northwest

My daughter and I just returned from the most wonderful trip to British Columbia conducted by Harry Ellis, Adventures Outdoors Tours. I learned of the tour through your Travel Section. Ellis caters a small group (no more than 8-10) in new vans, which makes it seem like a family outing. This trip included Puget Sound, Victoria, Vancouver Island, the Inside Passage via Canadian ferry, the Canadian wilderness with beautiful mountains, lakes and glaciers to a hidden seaport in Stewart, B.C.
It was so magnificent and spectacular, and each day topped the one before. We passed Bear Glacier and many others. At Hyder, Alaska, we saw six bears, salmon spawning, eagles nesting--just fantastic. We fished several places. Ellis caught an eight-pound salmon. We barbecued it for dinner--yum yum and fun. Ellis was good-natured, accommodating and really knew his subject, having lived and traveled in the Northwest and Alaska.
The seven-day trip, ending in Prince Rupert, was $439, which included the van transport, all ferry fares and seven nights’ accommodations. Ellis also conducts backpack trips to the Olympic Peninsula, Mt. Rainier and many others. He may be contacted at Adventures Outdoors Tours, 5354 Ruby Place N.E., Bainbridge Island, Wash. 98110, phone (208) 842-3189.
