Belgian customs officers stopped a toxic-waste ship--target of Greenpeace anti-pollution protests--from leaving the port of Antwerp because its papers were not in order, police said. The U.S.-owned incinerator ship Vulcanus II had halted an operation to burn 2,000 tons of toxic waste from Spain in the North Sea on Saturday and berthed in Antwerp. It was about to leave again when customs officers boarded to check its documents. Greenpeace said the ship had gone to Antwerp to pick up a further consignment of toxic waste from an Antwerp company. Greenpeace says the waste includes pesticides and other potentially dangerous chemicals.
