Bankers Trust New York Corp. will open a Tokyo securities branch this week, paving the way for other American banks to enter the lucrative Japanese share and bond markets. Officials of the New York-based firm said the subsidiary will conduct securities underwriting and trading in Tokyo. Japan’s Finance Ministry agreed in June to allow 10 foreign firms, including four U.S. banks, to set up securities trading branches on condition that their parents held no more than half the capital.
