Irvine : Work Crew Accidentally Causes Power Failure
- Share via
A work crew apparently digging a post hole hit a 12,000-volt circuit in east Irvine on Wednesday morning, cutting electricity for almost an hour to about 100 commercial customers, authorities said.
The crew that caused the power failure did not work for Southern California Edison, spokesman Gene Carter said. The power went out at 9:40 a.m. and was restored by 10:30 a.m.
Irvine police reported that traffic signals at six intersections stopped working during the blackout.
