The 4th District Court of Appeal on Wednesday rejected a bid to block the Grand Prix auto races scheduled to be held this weekend and next at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
The court said a suit brought by Del Mar resident Harvey Furgatch, alleging that the Coastal Commission improperly allowed race promoters to switch dates for the race, was groundless. Furgatch has opposed the race on several grounds, including noise and pollution.
Furgatch’s suit was the fourth suit seeking to block the race. Two suits by Del Mar and one by a homeowners’ group have also been rejected.
The decision to reject Furgatch was written by Justice Don Work, with Justice William Todd and Justice Pro-Tem Richard Huffman concurring.
