A judge issued an arrest warrant when one of three men accused of stealing Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner’s car and kidnaping his bodyguard failed to appear for a pretrial hearing.
Santa Monica Superior Court Judge Robert Thomas issued the arrest warrant Monday for Victor M. Lopez, 20, who had been free on $30,000 bail.
Reiner’s car was stolen June 15 by three armed suspects as Reiner, his wife, their two children and Superior Court Judge Diane Wayne were dining at the swank Spago restaurant in West Hollywood.
Lopez’s co-defendant, Arturo Samaniego, 35, was convicted in the incident last month and faces up to 11 years in state prison when sentenced Nov. 3. The third defendant remains a fugitive.
