An equipment service technician was arrested Thursday on suspicion of rape for the Oct. 5 assault on a 22-year-old UCLA coed in the University Research Library on the Westwood campus, authorities said.
Acting on a tip from other law enforcement agencies, UCLA police arrested Nathan Brocato, 26, in Century City, where he works, campus Detective Jim Vandenberg said. School authorities did not give other details of what led to the arrest of Brocato, who lives in the San Bernardino County town of Highland.
The female student was assaulted at 10 p.m. as she sat at a desk on the third floor of the library. A man dragged her into an empty room where she was assaulted, officers said.
Campus authorities said it was the third rape or sexual assault on the campus in the last year.
