The Beatles, Bob Dylan, the Beach Boys, the Supremes and the Drifters will join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the organization’s third annual dinner in New York on Jan. 20. The selections were made by 150 music-industry representatives from a field of 24 nominees, all of whom released their first record prior to 1963. Among nominees not selected this year, but still eligible: Dion, Four Seasons, Platters, Booker T. & the MG’s, Duane Eddy, Hank Ballard and Ben E. King. Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly and Les Paul will be inducted as artists who influenced the development of rock ‘n’ roll, and Motown Records Chairman Berry Gordy will be included as a non-performing music industry professional.
