In a gesture of faith in the shows, or lack of faith in alternatives, CBS has ordered nine new episodes of five of its new fall series despite their relatively low status in the prime-time Nielsen ratings. The series are “Beauty and the Beast,” which ranked 43rd out of 76 for the season to date; “Frank’s Place” (47th); “Wiseguy” (50th), “Jake and the Fatman” (52nd) and “Tour of Duty,” (62nd).
