Torrance : Judge Named to New Court

Fumiko H. Wasserman of Torrance has been appointed by Gov. George Deukmejian to fill a vacancy on the South Bay Municipal Court.
Wasserman, 40, will transfer from San Pedro, where she began as a Municipal Court judge last year, to the Torrance courthouse. She replaces Judge Francis Hourigan, who was elevated to the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Wasserman served from 1981 until 1985 on the Torrance Board of Education. Her legal background includes four years as an assistant U. S attorney and two years as a Los Angeles deputy city attorney. She graduated from UCLA and Loyola University Law School.
