Duarte : School Trustee Leaves Race
School board member Marc Trummel has dropped his bid for reelection, leaving seven contenders for the three seats to be decided in Tuesday’s election.
Although Trummel’s name will remain on the ballot, he told the school board last week that he was withdrawing because work commitments had prevented him from devoting enough time and energy to campaigning.
Trummel, an environmental engineer at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, has served on the board for more than 10 years. Trummel said his continued presence in the campaign would hurt the candidates he would like to see elected.
Those candidates are Jim Kirchner and incumbents Richard Key and Janet Wight . The Duarte Teachers Assn. had endorsed the three incumbents, but after Trummel dropped out of the race it endorsed Kirchner.
The other candidates are Paul Clayton McDonnel, Allen R. Christensen, Bruce Cameron and Henry Chapjian.
