Chase Corp. of New Zealand disclosed that it boosted its stake in Standard Brands Paints to 6.7% and said it remains interested in acquiring the Torrance-based do-it-yourself home decorator chain. Chase Corp. said it purchased 611,000 shares between Sept. 2 and Oct. 26 at prices from $17.075 to $29.587. Standard Brands Paints, which rejected a $300-million offer from Chase Corp. in July, said last week that its board is considering a recapitalization that includes buying back 50% of the company’s 11.3 million shares.
