FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — In a landmark child abuse case, a jury today convicted Theresa Jackson of provoking her daughter’s suicide by forcing her to become a stripper.
Jackson, 40, was convicted on charges of child abuse, procuring sexual performances by a child and of forging a birth certificate so her 17-year-old daughter, Tina Mancini, could dance in the nude. Jackson, who showed little emotion when the verdict was read, faces up to 25 years in prison when she is sentenced Dec. 3.
