Community College Roundup : Saddleback Rolls Over Citrus in Water Polo, 17-9

Keith Shore had six goals and goalie Vic Bakkila recorded 26 saves as Saddleback College defeated Citrus, 17-9, in an Orange Empire Conference water polo match Friday at Citrus.

Denny Bethke had four goals for Saddleback (22-3, 14-0), which enters play in the Southern California Regionals next Friday at Belmont Plaza.

In Orange Empire men’s soccer:

Orange Coast 4, L.A. Harbor 0--Javier Diaz, Junian Dos Santos, David Vautrin and Jessie Haxton had goals for OCC (10-6-2, 8-4-1) at home.

Rancho Santiago 4, Riverside 0--Jose Guerrero scored two goals and Richard Fuentes and Richard Pilon each scored one to lead the Dons (12-2-1, 10-2-1) at Riverside. The victory boosted Rancho Santiago into first place with a half-game lead over Riverside with two games left. Goalkeeper Ed Soto had four saves for the Dons.

In South Coast Conference men’s soccer:

Fullerton 3, Cerritos 1--Jeff Boucher, Carlos Kurianski and Kurt Feirereisen scored for Fullerton (8-4-1, 3-4-1) at home.

In South Coast Conference volleyball:

Golden West 3, Fullerton 0--Dionne Powers had nine kills and nine blocks to lead the Rustlers (16-1, 8-0), the state’s No. 1-ranked team, to a 15-1, 15-13, 15-6 victory at Huntington Beach. Laura Phillips also had nine kills. Fullerton is 7-6, 4-5.
