Reputed Ex-Crime Boss Arrested by U.S. Marshals

WASHINGTON — Alphonse Persico, 57, the reputed former head of the Colombo organized crime family in New York, was arrested Monday by the U.S. Marshals Service in West Hartford, Conn. Persico had fled in 1980 after being convicted of extortion in connection with alleged loan sharking activity.
