Miami-based CBS newsman Bernard Goldberg was named Tuesday as the first of a number of correspondents being assigned to the news division’s new prime-time series, “48 Hours,” anchored by Dan Rather. Goldberg started with CBS News in 1972 as a producer, becoming a correspondent in 1981. His reports on street sales of crack in New York were a key part of “48 Hours on Crack Street,” a highly rated CBS News special that aired earlier this year and led to approval of the “48 Hours” series. The series is scheduled to join the CBS prime-time roster in January.
