Local News in Brief : Recording Piracy Charged

Four men were charged Tuesday with counterfeiting thousands of cassette recordings by such stars as Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Willie Nelson, the district attorney’s office said.
The defendants named in the 15-count complaint surrendered in Los Angeles municipal Court and were ordered to return for arraignment Dec. 17.
An investigation by Arcadia and Glendale police resulted in the seizure at three locations of machinery and materials worth more than $500,000 related to the duplication operation, authorities said.
Nerses Bardakjian, 41, of La Crescenta, Nazaret Bardakjian, 44, and Vardan Gezalynan, 30, both of Los Angeles, were charged with conspiracy to cheat and defraud, Gevrok Gezalyn, 48, of Los Angeles, was charged with conspiracy to cheat and defraud and manufacturing or selling a counterfeit trademark.
