‘Feeding the Hungry’

Ten years ago, 41,000 people died daily due to hunger and its related diseases, according to United Nations’ statistics. Today, that number has been lowered to 35,000 daily deaths. The hunger issue has not vanished from the global agenda. Freeman is correct in saying that there is much work yet to be done.
His assertion that our assistance targeted to “micro-enterprise” among the poor will ultimately produce greater trading partners for us has precedence in the Marshall Plan instigated to rebuild Europe following World War II.
Continuous media coverage with publications of articles such as Freeman’s is another good way to keep hunger in the public conscious.
