U.S. District Judge J. Spencer Letts of Los Angeles is expected to announce Monday that he will become the second judge to be assigned to the federal courts branch in Santa Ana, according to court sources.
Letts, 52, would join U.S. District Judge Alicemarie H. Stotler in making the move to Orange County. The branch court has long been sought by lawyers in Orange County, which is within the Central District of California, centered in Los Angeles.
Dedication ceremonies for the three-courtroom building at Santa Ana Boulevard and Flower Street are scheduled for Jan. 15. The courthouse is to serve Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
