I am bemused by the fact that the Western press keeps harping on the idea that Mrs. Gorbachev is indeed the Soviet Union’s version of the First Lady. Is it that difficult to imagine that other forms of government or other cultures are not set up in the same manner as the United States? If the Western press keeps doing this, especially reporters in the United States, then we will keep appearing as being very naive in the eyes of the rest of the world.
