Tom Chaikin, a defensive tackle for the University of South Carolina, remains hospitalized while doctors continue to search for the cause of a mysterious illness that has left him severely weakened. Chaikin, whose symptoms include high blood pressure and soaring adrenaline levels, will miss the Gamecocks’ Dec. 5 game against Miami of Florida and the Gator Bowl.
