Oscar Omissions

I was angered when I read that Barbra Streisand may be denied the Oscar nomination and/or the award because fellow actors don’t like her.
I thought the voting was based on the performances. If it is nothing more than a popularity contest, then why bother with giving awards out?
Come on, Hollywood! Don’t refuse to acknowledge talent because of your personal feelings. Base your judgments on what you see on the screen. That is what the Oscar is all about.
