In your list of Oscar contenders, the names of pictures, directors, actors and actresses are all neatly printed.
Only something is wrong: No writers are on the list. Under “Original Screenplay” and “Adapted Screenplay,” we find only the picture’s name.
How did these pictures come to be? They were born through the hard work of writers, and these writers deserve credit for their work. Without them, there would be no directors, no actors, no actresses, and yes, no pictures.
