THE COLLEGES : Chapman Defeats Azusa Pacific, 77-67

Senior forward Kelly Huston and sophomore guard Dave Roth scored 14 points each to lead five Chapman players in double figures as the Panthers defeated Azusa Pacific, 77-67, Saturday night in a nonconference men’s basketball game at Azusa Pacific.
Chapman went on a 15-4 scoring spree to build a 22-14 lead, but Azusa Pacific tied the score, 25-25, on a three-point basket by Mark Moses with 6:12 left in the half. The score was tied at halftime, 34-34.
The score was tied eight more times in the second half before Chapman went on a 12-2 run to take a 64-54 lead.
Russ Ortega and Andy Stensgard scored 13 points each, and Bryan Richetto added 11 points and 9 assists for Chapman (7-4). Stensgard had a career-high 11 rebounds.
Bill DesRochers scored a game-high 26 points, including 18 in the first half, and had 9 rebounds for Azusa Pacific (2-11), which lost its seventh consecutive game. Moses, a transfer from United States International University via Rancho Santiago College, added 17 points.
