Just days before the filing period opens in Carmel, the big question sweeping the seaside community is whether Mayor Clint Eastwood will run for re-election. “Probably, off the top of my head,” Eastwood recently told the Herald of Monterey. “But I really haven’t given it a thought.” Eastwood said he has some projects he would like to complete, including solving the city’s parking problems and working out water supply allocation with the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District. The actor-director, 57, was swept into office by a 3-to-1 margin in April, 1986. The filing period opens Thursday. Up for grabs in the April 12 election is the mayor’s two-year seat and two four-year council seats.
