Local News in Brief : Cancer Center Opened

About 150 people attended the opening Thursday morning of the $12-million Cedars-Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles, hearing it described as the “flagship” of a nationwide network of outpatient cancer treatment facilities open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Mayor Tom Bradley, City Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky and other officials took part in the ceremony at the 53,000-square-foot center at 8700 Beverly Blvd., which features a vaulted glass roof and a collection of works by Los Angeles artists. The network being developed by Salick Health Centers Inc. already includes three centers in Miami and Palm Beach, Fla.
