Point Loma Remains No. 1 Despite Defeat

SAN DIEGO — The Point Loma High girls’ basketball team, despite a 39-37 loss to Fallbrook that snapped its section-record 74-game winning streak, remained atop The Times’ San Diego County top 10.
Fallbrook (8-5) followed its upset victory by losing to Poway, 47-42, and remained at No. 7.
Bonita Vista (14-2) broke into the top 10 at No. 9. Orange Glen (10-4), which was defeated by No. 3 Vista (12-4), 69-37, was the only team to fall from the ranking.
Big games this week: Vista plays at No. 4 Mt. Carmel at 7 tonight. Point Loma visits No. 5 Madison at 6 p.m. Friday.
