The evolution of the Little Boots production of “Equus” from inspiration to reality turns out to be a drama all its own. Iranian immigrant Rametin Movahhed came to this country 13 years ago and has lived in San Diego for seven, driving a cab and dreaming of putting on a show.
Finally, he decided it was “now or never” and sunk his savings--all $7,000 of it--into last year’s production of “Zoo Story” at the Sixth Avenue Playhouse, a production which, thanks to a favorable (and he noted, much-photocopied--by-him review) which brought in some well-to-do theater benefactors, led to a backing that is allowing him to put three times as much into the show he really wanted to do in the first place--”Equus.”
