Phillips-Ramsay, San Diego’s largest advertising agency with $52 million in 1987 billings, has agreed to be acquired by New York-based Interpublic Group of Companies for an undisclosed price. The agreement that will be completed in March calls for Phillips-Ramsay to be incorporated into Interpublic’s McCann Erickson Worldwide subsidiary. McCann Erickson, with $2.9 billion in 1987 worldwide billings, has 134 U.S. offices. Phillips-Ramsay’s 115 employees in San Diego and Phoenix will be retained, according to Phillips-Ramsay President Dick Brooks.
