Mass Killers and the Attention Given Them in the Media

The statement “today’s availability of military-style weapons and firearms in general may be important in some massacres” should have been headlined.
The public can help fight the glut of guns in the United States by supporting two important bills pending in Congress:
1. The Brady Bill: H.R. 975/S. 466 requires a seven-day waiting period to allow police to conduct background checks on handgun purchasers.
2. Plastic-Gun Bill: S. 465 prohibits manufacture, sale and importation of plastic handguns capable of escaping detection by security equipment in airports and government buildings.
