Members of a polygamist clan who holed up 11 days ago after the bombing of a Mormon chapel posed for a picture that shows their nine children smiling and apparently healthy, officials said. Authorities displayed the color photograph, taken by Ogden Kraut, a friend of the 15-member clan, to counter criticism of their siege tactics at the compound near Marion, Utah, by people concerned about the youngsters. Kraut delivered milk, baby cereal and disposable diapers in two visits to the group. Authorities hoped Kraut would be able to persuade clan leaders Vickie Singer and Addam Swapp, who are charged in federal warrants with the chapel bombing, to begin negotiating by telephone.
