CSUN Again Plays Without McGavran

Chuck McGavran, Cal State Northridge’s third-leading scorer, missed his second game of the conference season Thursday against Cal State Bakersfield.
McGavran, who is averaging 13.7 points a game, is academically ineligible until he has a grade recorded. That might happen as soon as today, and the 6-2 junior transfer from Orange Coast College could be back in the starting lineup for Saturday’s home game against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
McGavran also missed Northridge’s California Collegiate Athletic Assn. opener against Cal State L. A. on Jan. 15.
Jemarl Baker, a freshman from Manual Arts High, replaced McGavran in the starting lineup against Bakersfield.
