THE PREPS : Cypress Catches Loara on a Cold Night, 54-38

Loara High School shot just 20% from the field and lost to Cypress, 54-38, Thursday in an Empire League boys’ basketball game at Western High School.
After outscoring Cypress, 11-10, in the first quarter, Loara (4-13, 0-6) fell flat. The Saxons failed to score a point in the second quarter and scored just four points in the third quarter.
Guards Greg Bedford and Bond Weaver scored 18 points each to lead Cypress (6-12, 3-3).
Forward Ted Buchanan, the only Saxon player in double figures, scored 14 points for host Loara.
In the Express League:
Claremont 71, Gethsemane Baptist 57--Tom Patraw had 38 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists to lead Claremont (12-5, 9-1).
