WASHINGTON — Shop owners in the chic Georgetown business district today counted up thousands of dollars of losses in stolen goods and broken windows after about 100,000 revelers “went wild” celebrating the Washington Redskins’ 42-10 Super Bowl victory.
Police made at least 20 arrests amid the frenzied partying by “crazy” fans, some of whom were hanging from 30-foot light poles, stopping traffic and dancing victory jigs. Robert Scott Lewis, 24, of Pennsylvania was shot in the leg about 1 a.m. as he mingled in the mob, some of whom also broke windows and overturned a taxi, police said.
