A moderate earthquake shook Mexico City, the Pacific resort of Acapulco and areas of central Mexico, causing alarm but no reported damage or injuries. The epicenter was in the Pacific 170 miles southwest of Mexico City, off the coast of Acapulco, Mexican officials said. The quake registered 5.8 on the Richter scale, according to U.S. Geological Survey in Golden, Colo. Mexican police and Red Cross officials said the quake, at 7:51 a.m. PST, did not cause any casualties or material damage.
