A San Diego man was shot in the back while walking down an alley late Wednesday night, San Diego Police Department spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Bernie Rodriguez was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition Thursday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
According to Robinson, Rodriguez was walking north down an alley in the 3000 block of Clay Street when he was shot in the back around 11 p.m.
Police found the shell casing of a .25-caliber automatic pistol in the alley, Robinson said.
