IBM said it will raise monthly rental and lease charges on all its computers and the maintenance fees on some of its mainframe computers by 7%, effective June 1. International Business Machines also said it has raised the hourly service rates charged by its national service division by 15%, effective Friday. Equipment rentals and other services account for a small portion of IBM’s sales, about $3.3 billion out of a total of more than $54 billion in 1987. Its maintenence revenues totaled $7.7 billion last year.
