Guerrero at Third? On Second Thought, Play Him at First

In his article “Dodgers Need to Make One More Deal” (Feb. 3), Mike Downey certainly has a short memory. In highly commending the Dodger brass for suddenly loosening the previously taught purse strings in their pursuit to satisfy public sentiment, he has overlooked one important fact.
If the Dodgers had acquired Tim Raines when he was so eager to come to L.A., they wouldn’t have needed to have traded away the likes of a Bob Welch and bought all those expensive American Leaguer players. What’s more, they probably would have had a winning record last season!
