THE PREPS : Boys’ Basketball : St. Margaret’s Wins Title Again

Freshman center Ryan Westendorf scored 12 points and had 12 rebounds to lead St. Margaret’s High School to a 70-53 Collegiate League victory over Elliott Pope Friday at St. Margaret’s.
The victory clinched St. Margaret’s second consecutive league championship.
Mark Flather led St. Margaret’s scorers with 16 points. Chris Cooper added 13.
In the Academy League:
Whitney 63, Newport Christian 42--Whitney used a balanced attack, with 10 players scoring, to win at Newport Christian. Mark Fischer’s 14 points led Whitney, which finished with a 14-0 league record. Newport Christian was led by guard John Bahnsen’s 22 points. Wayne Everett added 14 points for Newport Christian.
In a nonleague game:
Orange Lutheran 64, Mary Star 43--Pat Bagatourian scored 16 points and Geoff MacArthur 12 for host Orange Lutheran (16-6). Mary Star is 14-8.
