Soccer Playoffs : Fitzpatrick Leads Pacifica to Wild-Card Win

Devon Fitzpatrick scored two goals to lead Pacifica High School to a 3-1 victory over Sonora Tuesday in a 3-A Southern Section girls’ wild-card soccer match at Pacifica.
Fitzpatrick, a junior, had 12 goals and 11 assists for Pacifica (9-5-1) during the regular season. She was voted the most valuable player of the Garden Grove League. Her first goal Tuesday tied the score, 1-1, 37 minutes into the first half. She scored again 10 minutes into the second half to give Pacifica the lead, 2-1.
Noelle Rost had the other goal and Rikki Drake had 12 saves for Pacifica, which finished third behind league-champion Kennedy and second-place La Quinta. The Mariners play at Esperanza (19-1-2) Thursday in the first round.
Sonora, the third-place team from the Freeway League, ended its season at 8-4-1.
In another 3-A wild-card match:
Moreno Valley 1, Orange 0--Visiting Orange ended its season at 8-3-5. Moreno Valley advances to play at Mater Dei (24-1) in a first-round match Thursday.
In a 2-A wild-card match:
Cerritos 2, Anaheim 0--Cerritos (15-5-2) advances to play at Redondo (14-2-1) Friday. Anaheim ends its season at 3-12-3.
