Soccer Playoffs : Sunny Hills Advances in Shootout

Sunny Hills High School defeated Anaheim, 3-2, in a shootout in a Southern Section 2-A wild-card playoff game Wednesday at Anaheim.
Jason Sugarman, Sunny Hills goalie, shut out Anaheim during regulation and through two 10-minute overtimes, then scored a goal in the shootout.
Sunny Hills (16-7-3) faces Orange in a first-round game Friday.
Anaheim finishes 8-7-5.
In other 2-A wild-card games:
Bolsa Grande 8, El Monte 1--Randy Reynaga scored three goals to lead host Bolsa Grande (11-6-1). Bolsa Grande plays at Troy Friday. Mark Miller, Juan Duarte, Craig McWhirter, Felix Carrillo and Bob Bowers also scored for Bolsa Grande.
Pacifica 1, Workman 0 (OT)--Erik Berg scored three minutes into the first of two 10-minute overtimes for host Pacifica (9-6-4). Pacifica meets fourth-seeded La Mirada Friday.
Laguna Hills 1, Estancia 0--Pat Richards scored 21 minutes into the second half off a pass from Brian Beaman for host Laguna Hills (14-7-3). Estancia finishes 13-6-6.
Brea-Olinda 5, Glenn 0--J.R. Ochs scored two second-half goals to lead Brea (9-5-7) at Glenn. Brea will play second-seeded Kennedy Friday. Tony Catalano, David Morrill and Alex Navarro also scored for Brea, and goalie Brian Hester made four saves.
In girls’ 4-A wild-card matches:
El Toro 2, Huntington Beach 0--El Toro’s Becky Clift scored in the first minute of the match at Huntington Beach. Kim Maniscalco scored the Chargers’ second goal about 25 minutes later. El Toro (8-4-10) plays at fourth-seeded Mira Costa (16-5-4) Friday.
Claremont 2, Tustin 0--Tustin (6-5-7) was eliminated at Claremont (10-6-3), which plays at Edison (14-5-5) Friday.
