Focusing on Candidate Pat Robertson
There is a logical flaw in the Robertson’s latest ad campaign, wherein he compares President John F. Kennedy’s struggle with religious bigotry in 1960 to his own “unfair” treatment today. The flaw is that while Kennedy did not base his campaign on his appeal to Catholics or on promises to enact Catholic morality into national legislation, Robertson’s “invisible army” supports him primarily because of his religious views and his promise to create a “moral” America. So while Kennedy’s religious views were not particularly important in judging his potential as a President, Robertson’s are. The press and public have every right to question Robertson’s religious and ethical views.
