San Fernando Police Department detectives were trying to determine a motive Saturday in the stabbing death of a man found in the parking lot of a San Fernando bar.
Sgt. Michael Harvey said Arturo M. Gutierrez, 24, of San Fernando was semi-conscious when several friends found him at 2 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Copa Granada. The companions had accompanied Gutierrez to the bar, in the 800 block of Workman Street, several hours earlier but had separated from him, Harvey said.
Gutierrez’s friends thought at first that he was ill and took him home, Harvey said. When they were unable to revive him, they took him to San Fernando Community Hospital, the officer said.
Doctors discovered that Gutierrez had been stabbed once in the chest, Harvey said.
