No Answer Yet From Mater Dei on Probation

Mater Dei High School officials have yet to accept or reject a Southern Section probation for recruiting violations, said Stan Thomas, Southern Section commissioner.
Thomas said Monday he received a letter from attorney Dan Holden, who is representing Mater Dei, asking for clarifications of some points of the one-year probation, which was handed down by the Southern Section’s executive committee last week.
“He did not indicate whether Mater Dei would accept or reject the committee’s recommendation of probation,” Thomas said. “There was no resolution, but rather some general questions that Holden wanted our attorney to answer.”
Neither Holden nor Father John Weling, Mater Dei principal, were available for comment Monday.
